A Christmas Kibble (Part 6): The Great Purr ππ²πβ¨πΎ
"I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future!" Muffin repeated, as he scrambled out of bed. π¦π
The sun was shining! The birds were singing! The world was glorious! βοΈπ¦β¨
Muffin ran to the window. He saw a young kitten passing by in the street. ππΌ
"What's to-day, my fine fellow?" shouted Muffin.
"To-day?" replied the boy. "Why, CHRISTMAS DAY!" ππ
"It's Christmas Day!" said Muffin to himself. "I haven't missed it! The spirits have done it all in one night. They can do anything they like. Of course they can!"
He ran to the pantry. He opened the vault. He grabbed the largest, most expensive tin of imperial salmon he could find. π₯«π
"Go and take this to Tobyβs house!" he told the Resident Staff via a series of urgent trills and leg-rubs. "And tell them it's from a friend! A very lucky friend!" π·ββοΈπ€π
He then went to the hallway and found young Toby. Instead of hissing, Muffin did something extraordinary. He shared the radiator. π§±π₯
"Merry Christmas, Toby!" Muffin purred, his vibration reaching a high intensity. "Come, sit on the **Oakwood Sill Throne**. The view is magnificent, and the sun is just about to hit the velvet." π°βοΈβ¨
Toby was so surprised he nearly fell over. "Muffin? Are you quite well?"
"I am better than well, my lad! I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a school-kit. I am as giddy as a drunken cat in a nip-field! A merry Christmas to every-cat! A happy New Year to all the world! Hallo here! Whoop! Hallo!" π€ΈββοΈππΆ
Muffin became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a cat, as the good old borough knew, or any other good old city, town, or borough, in the good old world. ππ
And it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any cat alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim-Kit observed, **"God bless Us, Every One!"** πΎβ¨π²ππ¦π
