The House at the Sunny Corner (Part 5): In Which Tigger-Tabby Discovers the Vertical-Ascent π―π―πͺβ¨π
Tigger-Tabby was a cat who didn't believe in steps. He believed in leaps of faith and elastic energy. He had just seen the **Ladder-Style Window Tree**βa lean-to masterpiece of sisal-wrapped engineeringβand he was determined to be the first to reach the ceiling sanctuary. π¨πͺ
"Watch this, Pooh-Cat!" he shouted, his tail rotating like a propeller of power. "Tiggers are natural navigators of the vertical void! No shelf is too high! No sill is too steep!" π―π
He did a triple-twist takeoff from the sofa and landed on the middle level of the tree. The tree was wall-safe and didn't wobble, which was a good thing, because Tigger-Tabby's landing had enough impact force to ground a robo-vacuum. π©π₯
But then, he looked up. There were three more levels to go. And the top level was very... high. Higher than the pantry peak. Higher than the curtain crest. Tigger-Tabby felt a sudden whisker waver. ππ§ββοΈ
"Um," said Tigger-Tabby in a much smaller voice. "I believe I have reached the optical illusion level. The floor seems to have retreated from reality."
Pooh-Cat and Piglet-Kit watched from below. "Do you need a rescue rope, Tigger?" asked Piglet-Kit, holding up a piece of sky string he had found. π§Άπ
"No," said Tigger-Tabby bravely. "I just need to analyze the ascent. It's a strategy session. Very important for high-rise heroes."
Mrs. Tabitha Twitchitβwho was visiting from the Sill Patchβclimbed up to the second level. "The vertical ascent is not about bouncing, Tigger," she said gently. "It is about the rhythm of the rung. You must use your hind hock hardware and the logic of the lean." πΎπ©°
Tigger-Tabby listened. He stopped boinging and started climbing. He moved with a steady stride, feeling the grip of the sisal beneath his paws. He reached the top observation deck. The view was staggering! He could see the entirety of the living room and even the secret larder on top of the cupboard. π°πβ¨
"I did it!" he purred, a sound of magnificent modesty. "I am the king of the canopy! I am the sentinel of the sisal!" ππ¦
The friends realized that the Window Tree was more than just a toy; it was a bridge to the beyond. It gave even the most bouncy cat a sense of calm command. They spent the evening taking turns on the tree, learning the art of the aerial nap. π€β¨
"I have learned," said Tigger-Tabby, grooming his striped fur, "that height is a very high-vibration thing. It makes one feel ascended. But it's also very nice to have friends at the base to catch you if your static cling fails." π€π―
But as they were preparing to come down for dinner, Rabbit-Kit arrived with a very urgent underground update. "There's a mystery melt occurring in the garden!" he squeaked. "We need a collective catio to investigate!" π‘π§Ώ
