The Strange Riverbank Visitor: A Spiky Encounter π¦π‘οΈβ¨πΎ
What a mysterious night it was! π The stars were twinkling like diamonds, and Muffin, Toby, and Arthur were enjoying a twilight vigil in the **Penthouse Window Catio**. πβ¨
Suddenly, a rustle came from the flower-bed below. πΏπ A tiny, dark shape was moving across the grass. It didn't hop like a bird or scurry like a mouse. It... *waddled*.
"Ooh, look!" Toby whispered, his ginger fur standing on end. "Itβs a **Walking Pincushion**! Is it a very small, very angry lion?" π¦πΌπ¦
Muffin narrowed her eyes, her whiskers performing a scent-scan of the night air. ππ‘ "How very extraordinary! It has a pointed nose and hundreds of tiny spikes! It looks just like a piece of the garden has come to life!" β¨πΎ
Arthur peered through the mesh. π΅ "That, my young friends, is a **Hedgehog**. A traveler of the night. He is a very dapper fellow, and a great friend to gardeners." π³π€
The hedgehog waddled right up to the base of the catio. π¦π‘οΈ He stopped, sniffed the air, and let out a tiny, polite snuffle. πβ¨ It was a very jolly greeting indeed.
"I say!" Toby squeaked. "Can he come in for a picnic? We have some very nice catnip-mousies!" ππΏπ
"I fear his spiky suit might not be suitable for the memory-foam," Muffin purred. π₯ "But we shall have a **Through-the-Mesh Tea Party** instead! We shall share stories of the moon and the stars." πππΆ
The cats spent the next hour talking to their strange visitor (via a series of inquisitive chirps and tail-flicks). The hedgehog told them about the secret slug-buffet in the neighborβs yard and the best way to avoid the prickly thorns of the rosebushes. π₯π‘οΈπ¦
"This is a first-class adventure," Toby sighed, feeling very brave. "Iβve never met a pincushion before."
Suddenly, the Resident Staffβs back-door light flickered on. π‘ The hedgehog, startled by the brightness, curled into a tight, spiky ball. π§Άπ‘οΈπ¦
"Oh no! Heβs turned into a pebble!" Toby cried. πͺ¨π
"Patience, Toby," Arthur advised. "It is his invisibility cloak. He is just being a master of camouflage." π₯·β¨
The human servant walked out to check the garden. π·ββοΈ "Muffin? Toby? What are you guys looking at?" They spotted the spiky ball on the path. "Oh, a hedgehog! Hello there, little friend." π₯°π¦
The Staff brought out a small saucer of water and a few cat biscuits for the traveler. π₯£πβ¨ What a scrumptious treat! The hedgehog uncurled, had a quick drink, and gave the cats one final snuffle before disappearing back into the shadows. ππ¨
It had been a most extraordinary night. They had made a new friend and learned the secrets of the garden floor. It was, they all agreed, a truly spiky adventure. ππ¦β¨πΎ
