The Fable of the Greedy Squirrels (Part 1): The Acorn Hoard ๐ฟ๏ธ๐ฅโ๏ธโจ๐พ
A pair of squirrels once lived in a great oak tree outside a merchant's house. ๐ฟ๏ธ They were greedy creatures, hoarding more acorns than they could ever eat, and mocking the household cats who sat behind the glass.
"Look at those slaves of the sill!" the lead squirrel would chatter. "They have no nuts! They have no freedom! They have only their plush cushions and their predictable meals!" ๐ฅ๐ฏ๏ธ
Muffin and Toby watched from their **Vista Balcony Box**. ๐ฐ They were patient observers, practitioners of the long gaze.
"Boss, theyโre throwing debris again!" Toby noted, as a hail of acorn-caps hit the acrylic. "Should we not defend our honor?" ๐ก๏ธ๐ฅ
"Patience, Toby," Muffin advised. "For as the wise Aesop said: *Greed often leads to a sticky end.* Observe the neighborโs Golden Retriever, Buster. He hath noticed the hoard." ๐๐งฟ
The squirrels, blinded by their own arrogance, didn't see the dog approaching the base of the tree. They were too busy performing the tail-wiggle of disrespect at the cats. ๐ฉ๐คฃ
"I shall pounce on the ledge!" the greedy squirrel declared. "I shall dance upon their very window!" ๐คธโโ๏ธ๐ฅ
