A Study in Catnip (Part 1): The High-Altitude Heist 🌿🏰🕵️‍♂️✨

It was a Saturday, the day of the weekly nip. 🌿🥴 The Resident Staff usually dispensed the green gold at 10:00 AM sharp.

I sat by the low shelf. Toby sat by the low shelf. Arthur sat by the low shelf. 👥👥👥

10:05. No nip. 🚫

10:10. Still no nip. 📉

"They’ve cut us off," Toby wailed. "It’s prohibition! We’re going dry!" 🥛🛑

"Calm down," I ordered. "I smell it. It’s in the room." 👃✨

I engaged my olfactory radar. I followed the scent trail past the sofa, past the TV, and... *up*. ⬆️

I looked at the top of the kitchen cabinets. There, peeking out from behind a vase, was the jar. 🏺🌿

"They moved it," Arthur grunted. "To the no-jump zone." 🚧

"Why?" Toby cried. "What did we do?" 🥺

"We got too efficient," I deduced. "Last week, we learned how to open the low cupboard. They are escalating the arms race." ⚔️🦁

"So... we can't get it?" Toby asked, his lip quivering. 🍼

"We can get anything, Toby," I said, eyeing the refrigerator. "We just need... a ladder." 🪜

I looked at the Staff. They were distracted by the dishwasher. 🍽️

"Operation Sky-High," I whispered. "Toby, you are the base. Arthur, you are the lookout. I am the climber." 🧗‍♀️

I leaped onto the counter. Then to the top of the fridge. The air was thin up here. 🏔️ I looked across the gap to the cabinets. It was a three-foot jump. 📏

"Do it, Muffin!" Toby cheered from the floor. 📣

I coiled. I launched. 🚀

I landed on the cabinet! 🏰 But my paws slid on the dust. I grabbed the vase to steady myself. 🏺🤲

*Wobble.* 🎢

The vase tipped. The jar tipped. 📉

"TIMBER!" I howled. 🌲
