Little Felines (Part 1): A Christmas Without Catnip 🎀🌲😿✨🥣

"Christmas won't be Christmas without any catnip," grumbled Jo-Tabby, lying on the rug with her paws tucked under her chest. She was a tomboy of a cat, with whiskers that had seen better days and a tail that was always twitching with suppressed energy. 🐈‍⬛🌲🚫

"It's so dreadful to be poor!" sighed Meg-Persian, looking down at her old white fur with a critical eye. She tried to fluff her ruff, but it just wouldn't sit right without a proper grooming brush. 🧖‍♀️😿

"I don't think it's fair for some cats to have plenty of fancy wet food and others to have nothing but dry kibble," piped up little Amy-Angora, who was currently admiring her own reflection in the side of the water bowl. 🥣💅

"We've got Father-Cat and Mother-Cat, and each other," said Beth-Ragdoll contentedly from her corner. She was the quiet one, always purring softly to herself and playing with a stray piece of yarn as if it were a grand piano. 🧶🎹🎶

The four sisters sat round the hearth, where the fire was just a memory, but the **Heated Sun-Ray Mat** provided a modern comfort. 🪵🔥 It was their one luxury in these hard times, a warm island in a sea of drafty floorboards. They had gathered there to hold a "Council of War" regarding the upcoming festivities. 🛡️😽

"We can't buy any new toys," said Jo-Tabby, sitting up and washing her face vigorously. "Mother-Cat says we must make sacrifices while Father-Cat is away at the Vet's Office (for a very long check-up). But I did so want a new scratching post! My claws are becoming quite unmanageable." 😼💅

"I planned to spend my saved-up treats on some cat-grass," said Beth gently. "But perhaps I will just find a nice sunbeam instead." ☀️🌱

Suddenly, the door opened and Marmee-Cat (Mother-Cat) entered. She was a tall, dignified feline with a grey coat that had seen many winters. She carried a look of tired love in her eyes. 👵❤️

"My dear little felines," she purred, gathering them into a circle. "I have a proposal. Not far from here, in the cold garage, lives the Hummel-Family—a stray mother with six kittens. They have no heated mat, and their bowl is empty. Will you give them your breakfast kibble as a Christmas present?" 🎁🏚️❄️

There was a moment of silence. Jo-Tabby looked at her hungry tummy. Amy-Angora looked at her empty bowl. But then, Meg-Persian stood up. "I will!" she declared. 🦁✨

"I will too!" cried Jo, not to be outdone. And soon, all four sisters were trotting toward the garage, carrying mouthfuls of their precious breakfast to the shivering strangers. 🥣🏃‍♀️❄️

It was a very small breakfast, but the purrs of the Hummel-Kittens were the loudest sound in the neighborhood that morning. And when the March sisters returned to their warm mat, they felt full—not of food, but of the "Spirit of Giving." 💖🤝✨
