Little Felines (Part 5): The Palace Beautiful ๐ŸŽน๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ’“๐ŸŽผ๐Ÿญ

Beth-Ragdoll was the shyest cat in the world. ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿซฃ She would hide under the sofa if the doorbell rang, and the sight of a stranger made her flatten herself into a "cat-rug." ๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ

But she loved music. Whenever she heard the Old Human next door (Mr. Laurence) playing his grand piano, she would creep to the window and listen, her ears swiveling like radar dishes. ๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ“ก

"It sounds like a giant purr," she whispered to Jo. "I wish I could sit on it. The vibrations must be magnificent." ๐Ÿ’“

"You should go over there," Jo encouraged. "Mr. Laurence is very nice. He gives excellent chin-scratches." ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™‚๏ธ

But Beth was too afraid. She preferred the safety of her **Vista Balcony Box**. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ It was an internal window box with clear acrylic walls, allowing her to see the "Palace Beautiful" (the Laurence house) without actually stepping a paw outside. She would sit there for hours, watching the birds and listening to the distant music. ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŽต

One day, however, the music stopped. Mr. Laurence had gone out, and the big house was silent. Beth saw the door was slightly ajar. The temptation was too great. ๐Ÿšช๐Ÿ‘€

She slipped out of her box, squeezed through the hedge, and crept into the mansion. It was huge! The ceilings were high, the rugs were deep, and in the center of the parlor stood the Grand Piano. ๐ŸŽนโœจ

Beth jumped up. She walked tentatively across the keys. *Plink! Plonk!* ๐ŸŽต It wasn't quite music, but it was sound! She settled down on the lid, feeling the cool wood against her belly. She began to purr. Her purr resonated with the strings inside, creating a symphony of self-satisfaction. ๐ŸŽป๐Ÿ’ค

Suddenly, a door opened. Mr. Laurence walked in! ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿšช

Beth froze. She should have run. She should have hidden. But the piano lid was so comfortable, and her legs felt like jelly. ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฎ

Mr. Laurence stopped. He saw the small, terrified Ragdoll cat on his piano. He didn't shout. He didn't wave a broom. He simply sat down on the bench and began to playโ€”very softly. ๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿคซ

He played a lullaby. Beth felt the music vibrate through her paws. It was better than any sunbeam. It was better than any catnip. She relaxed. She blinked. She slow-blinked at the Old Human. ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’ž

When the song ended, Mr. Laurence reached into his pocket and pulled out a treatโ€”a piece of high-quality freeze-dried salmon. ๐ŸŸโœจ He placed it on the keys.

Beth ate it. She allowed him to scratch behind her ears for exactly three seconds. Then, she hopped down and ran home, her heart pounding with the thrill of her adventure. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’“

"I did it!" she told her sisters, back in the safety of the Vista Balcony Box. "I conquered the Palace! And the Human... he is not a Heffalump. He is a Friend." ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿคโœจ
