The House at the Sunny Corner (Part 1): In Which Pooh-Cat and the Cloud-Stalker Go Hunting 🍯☁️🐈🐾✨

Once upon a time, a very long time ago now, about last Friday, Pooh-Cat lived in a house all by himself under the name of Sanders. Which means that he had the name "Sanders" written in gold letters over his favorite scratching post, and he lived under it. 🏠🐾

One day, while he was walking in the hallway, humming a hum to himself—it was a solar melt sort of hum, the kind you hum when the radiator is warm and the Resident Staff has forgotten to close the pantry door—he suddenly stopped. 🍯✨

"Bother," said Pooh-Cat. "I believe I am having a Thought. And when one is a cat of very little brain, a Thought can be a very uncomfortable thing to have in one's whiskers until it is properly sorted out."

The Thought was this: Where does the **red dot** go when it isn't there? 🧿🔴

Pooh-Cat knew that the red dot was a very mysterious creature. It was faster than a zoomie, quieter than a slow-blink, and it had a habit of appearing on the ceiling just when one was settled for a nap. He decided that the best way to catch it was to go to the highest point in the house. But since the top of the refrigerator was currently occupied by a very large bag of forbidden kibble, he decided to use the **Cloud Nine Suction Perch** instead. ☁️✨

He waddled over to the window. Pooh-Cat was a bit stout around the middle—which he preferred to call aesthetically substantial—but the Cloud Nine perch was reinforced with steel and held him quite safely. He climbed up and sat there, looking out at the Hundred-Acre Garden. 🌳🌼

"If I were a red dot," he said to himself, "I would hide in a sunbeam. Because a sunbeam is the most invisible place a light-thing could be. It's like hiding a jar of honey in a pantry full of honey. Very clever." 🍯☀️

Just then, Piglet-Kit arrived. Piglet-Kit was a very small cat, the kind of cat who found even a crinkle-toy a bit intimidating if it crinkled too loudly. 🐈🍭

"Oh, Pooh-Cat!" squeaked Piglet-Kit. "Are you... are you hunting cloud-stalkers?"

"I am hunting the red dot, Piglet," said Pooh-Cat importantly. "And I am doing it from this Cloud Nine perch, which is a superior vantage point for cats of high ambition and substantial girth." 🏰🐾

Piglet-Kit scrambled up beside him. The perch was large enough for both of them, which was a very lucky thing indeed. They sat in silence for a while, watching the sky string—the rain—start to fall against the glass. 🌧️💎

"Pooh," whispered Piglet-Kit after a long time. "If the red dot is a shadow-thing, do you think it is afraid of the solar melt?"

Pooh-Cat scratched his ear. "That is a very deep cat-logic question, Piglet. I believe that the red dot is not afraid of anything, except perhaps the vacuum villain, who is a very rude fellow indeed. But from up here, on our cloud, we are safe from all dog-zone disturbances." 🦁✨

They didn't find the red dot that day, but they did find a very beautiful rainbow refraction on the carpet, which Pooh-Cat decided was a red-dot-cousin and therefore almost as good. They stayed on the perch until the sun went down, feeling very cozy and very aesthetic in their high-up home. 🌈🏡

But as they were about to descend, they heard a very loud "Boing-boing-bounce" coming from the living room. It was Tigger-Tabby, and he sounded like he was having a maximum zoomie session. 💨🐯

"Oh dear," said Piglet-Kit. "I hope he doesn't try to bounce on the Luxury Linen Sill Seat again. Last time, he ended up in the fern-forest!" 🪴🙀
