The House at the Sunny Corner (Part 2): In Which Pooh-Cat Gets Into a Very Tight Place π―πͺππΎβ¨
The boing-boing-bounce of Tigger-Tabby had led the way to a very interesting afternoon. Tigger-Tabby was a cat who believed that the shortest distance between two points was a back-flip over the sofa. He had just discovered the **Luxury Linen Sill Seat** and was busy explaining that bouncing is what Tiggers do best, but napping is what Tiggers do second best. π―π§ββοΈ
Pooh-Cat, however, was having a difficult moment. After the gala on the Cloud Nine perch, he had found a bowl of extra-hearty stew left out by the Resident Staff. Being a cat of generous spirit and even more generous stomach, he had finished the whole thing. π₯π―
Now, he was trying to go through the cat-flap to visit Rabbit-Kit's garden. He got his head through. He got his front paws through. He even got his whiskersβwhich were very fine and elegantβthrough. But then... he stopped. ππͺ
"Oh, bother," said Pooh-Cat in a muffled voice from the other side of the flap. "I believe the house has shrunk. Or perhaps the Staff has installed a narrow-mode on the door without telling me."
Piglet-Kit and Tigger-Tabby came to see what the matter was. They found Pooh-Cat's aesthetically substantial back-end sticking out into the hallway, while his front half was already in the garden. It was a very unbalanced look. πββ¬π
"Are you... are you stuck, Pooh?" asked Piglet-Kit, his whiskers twitching with small-cat concern.
"No," said Pooh-Cat from the garden side. "I am merely experiencing the latch in a very close and personal way. I am meditating on the margin. It is a very Zen thing to do, Rabbit-Kit told me." π§Ώπ
Rabbit-Kit, who was a very organized cat with a penchant for sill efficiency, came out of his holeβwhich was actually a very nice **Luxury Linen Sill Seat** near the floor. π°β¨
"Bother," said Rabbit-Kit. "Now I can't use the door to go and check on my catnip crops. This is what happens when one ignores the logic of the linear limit, Pooh. You must stay there until you are a thinner cat again." ππΎ
"How long will that be?" asked Pooh-Cat, feeling a bit grumbley in the tumbly.
"About a week," said Rabbit-Kit cheerfully. "But don't worry, we shall use your back-end as a towel rack. It's a very modern utility look." π§£β¨
So they all sat down to wait. Tigger-Tabby practiced his vertical balance on the doorframe, and Piglet-Kit read Pooh-Cat stories about brave lions and infinite butterflies. Christopher-Human eventually arrived and realized that the tight place was simply a matter of stuck screws. With a little bit of magic oil and a very gentle nudge and tug, Pooh-Cat was finally released. π§΄π¨
Pooh-Cat did a very large relief stretch. "I have learned a great lesson today," he said, grooming his rumpled fur. "The Zen of the sill is not about how much space you take up, but how much solar melt you can fit in your heart. Also, perhaps I shall have only *one* bowl of stew tomorrow." π₯£βοΈ
But then, Eeyore-Grey arrived. Eeyore-Grey was a cat of deep grey fur and even deeper grey thoughts. He looked at the cat-flap and sighed. π¨π
"It doesn't matter," muttered Eeyore. "Probably would have been the wrong garden anyway. Full of sky string and thistle thorns. Not that anyone noticed my absence." π₯
