The Great Catsby (Part 6): The Last Swim 🏊‍♂️🟢🦁💤✨

The next afternoon, Catsby put on his bathing suit (which meant he groomed himself very thoroughly) and headed for the pool. 🏊‍♂️👅 It was actually just a large, ceramic water bowl on a mat, but to Catsby, it was the Mediterranean. 🌊

He had decided to use the pool one last time before the Staff drained it for cleaning. He floated on his **Cloud Nine Suction Perch**, which was positioned directly above the water, allowing him to dangle one paw in the cool liquid. ☁️🐾

The phone didn't ring. Daisy didn't call. The Green Light was off. 📵🟢🚫

Wilson-Cat arrived. He looked mad. He looked like a cat who had lost his favorite toy. But when he saw Catsby sleeping peacefully on the Cloud Nine perch, looking so innocent and golden, his anger faded. 🦁💤

"It was just an accident," Wilson whispered. "And besides... he looks very comfortable."

Wilson turned and left. Catsby slept on. He dreamed of a world where the laser pointer never went out, where the tuna never ran dry, and where the past could be repeated, again and again, like a favorite song. 🎶🐟🔁

I found him there later. The wind was blowing through the window, ruffling his fur. He looked like a king who had finally found his kingdom. 👑🌬️

Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter—tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther... And one fine morning— ☀️🏃‍♂️💪

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the nap. 🛶💤🌊
