The Many Adventures of Muffin-Pooh (Part 1)

Once upon a time, a very long time ago now, about last Friday, Muffin-Pooh lived in a house all by himself under the name of Sanders. ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ  This meant that he had the name "Sanders" written in gold letters over his favorite scratching post, and he lived under it. โœ๏ธโœจ

Muffin-Pooh was a honey-colored cat, somewhat stout in the middle, which he attributed to a robust appreciation for premium kibble and the occasional lick of tuna-water. ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฅ˜ He was a cat of Very Little Brain, perhaps, but he was a cat of Very Great Comfort. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ค

One morning, after he had finished his morning "stoutness exercises" (which involved stretching his front paws very far forward and his back paws very far back, and then deciding that a nap was much more productive), he wandered into the Sun-Room. ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ›Œโ˜€๏ธ

The Sun-Room was part of the Hundred-Acre Living Room, a vast and mysterious territory filled with soft rugs, towering bookshelves, and the occasional discarded sock. ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿงฆ But the most important part of the Sun-Room was the Window-Sill. ๐Ÿ”ญ

"Bother," said Pooh, as he looked at the sill. "The sun is up there, and I am down here. And between us is a Great Gap." ๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿ“

He sat down and thought in a thoughtful way. ๐Ÿง If you are a cat of Very Little Brain, thinking is something you have to do very carefully, or you might accidentally think about a moth, and then your brain gets very busy indeed. ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒ€

"If a sun-beam is a sun-beam," he murmured to himself, "and a cat is a cat, then the best place for a cat to be is in the middle of a sun-beam." โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ

He looked at the **Oakwood Sill Throne** that the Resident Staff had recently installed. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿชต It was a sturdy, dignified structure that clamped onto the sill, offering a plush velvet pad that looked remarkably like a giant, soft honeycomb. ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ

Pooh began to climb. It wasn't a very fast climb, because climbing is the sort of thing that requires a lot of "puff," and Pooh was a cat who preferred to save his "puff" for important things, like purring. ๐Ÿง—โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Finally, he reached the summit. He stepped onto the velvet pad. It was warm. It was soft. And it was positioned exactly where the Sky-Blinker (the sun) sent its most golden, most "honey-ish" rays. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฏโœจ

"Aha!" said Pooh. "A Honey-Spot." ๐Ÿฏโ˜€๏ธ

He settled down, his paws tucked neatly under his chest. He felt the warmth seep into his golden fur. It felt like being hugged by a very large, very warm cloud that smelled faintly of laundry detergent. โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ›Œ๐Ÿงบโœจ

As he sat there, a small, pinkish-grey kitten with very large ears wandered into the room. This was Piglet-Kit, Pooh's best friend. ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฑ Piglet-Kit was a very small cat, and he often felt that the world was a very large place for such a small person. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ™€

"H-hullo, Pooh," Piglet-Kit squeaked, his tail twitching nervously. "What are you doing up there in the High-Place?" ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ๐Ÿ”ญ

"I am being a Cloud-Cat," Pooh replied, his eyes half-closed. "I am experiencing the Honey-Spot. It is very aesthetic, Piglet. You should come up." โ˜๏ธโ˜€๏ธโœจ

"I... I don't know," Piglet-Kit said, looking at the Great Gap. "It looks very high. And what if there are Heffalumps up there?" ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

"Heffalumps," Pooh said wisely, "do not like sun-beams. They prefer dark corners and the insides of vacuum cleaners. Up here, it is only warmth and logic." โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ๐Ÿง โœจ

Piglet-Kit hesitated, then began a very brave, very shaky climb. When he reached the Oakwood Sill Throne, he huddled close to Pooh. The warmth of the sun and the steady, rhythmic purr of his friend soon chased away his fears. ๐Ÿง—โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ›Œ๐Ÿ’ค

"Oh, Pooh," Piglet-Kit whispered. "It is a very grand thing, being a cat." ๐Ÿ’–โœจ

"It is," Pooh agreed. "Especially when you have a Honey-Spot and a friend to share it with." ๐Ÿฏโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿค
