The Many Adventures of Muffin-Pooh (Part 4)
The Hundred-Acre Living Room was usually a very quiet place, suitable for long naps and deep contemplations on the nature of the sun. π²π π§ββοΈ But one morning, the quiet was interrupted by a sound like a very large, very enthusiastic spring being released. ππ’
*Boing-boing-boing!* πβ¨
A blur of orange and black stripes exploded into the room. It bounced off the sofa, ricocheted off the armchair, and landed with a flourish on the coffee table, nearly upsetting a vase of very aesthetic (but very fake) flowers. π―ππ₯πΊ
"Hul-loooo!" the blur cried. "I'm Tigger! T-I-double-G-E-R! And I'm the only one!" π―ποΈβ¨
Muffin-Pooh and Piglet-Kit stared at the newcomer. He was a large, lean Tabby with a tail that seemed to have a mind of its own. π¦π·π±π§Ώ
"Are you... are you a cat?" Piglet-Kit squeaked, hiding behind Pooh's stout leg. ππ
"Of course I'm a cat!" Tigger-Tabby declared, performing a back-flip for no apparent reason. "But I'm a *bouncing* cat! Tiggers are wonderful things! Their tops are made of rubber, their bottoms are made of springs! They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!" π―ππβ¨
"I see," Pooh said, trying to follow the logic. "And what do Tiggers... er... do? Besides the bouncing?" π€π―
"We climb!" Tigger shouted. "We jump! We explore the High-Up-Highs! We go where no cat has gone before! Like... the top of the refrigerator! Or the very highest shelf in the pantry!" π§ββοΈποΈπ
"Those are very high places," Pooh observed. "A bit drafty, I should think." π¬οΈ
"Nonsense!" Tigger cried. "The higher you are, the more room you have for bouncing! But I've heard a rumor. A rumor of a **Double Decker Skyloft**. A place where a Tigger can bounce *and* look at the birds at the same time!" π°βοΈπ¦
"It's in the Master Bedroom," Piglet-Kit offered. "It's a two-tier suction perch. Pooh and I use the bottom level for napping." ππ·π±
"Aha!" Tigger-Tabby was already out of the room before Piglet had finished speaking. β‘οΈπ
Pooh and Piglet followed at a more "stout" pace. When they arrived, they saw Tigger-Tabby already perched on the very top tier of the Double Decker Skyloft. He was looking out the window, his tail lashing with excitement. ππ―πβ¨
"Look at them!" Tigger whispered, his eyes dilated. "The Feather-Things! They're bouncing in the sky! I could bounce with them! I could be a Sky-Tigger!" π¦π§Ώπ§Ώπ
"Tiggers," Pooh said gently, "cannot fly. Even bouncy ones." π―π§ββοΈ
"I know that!" Tigger huffed, though he looked a bit disappointed. "But I can *watch* them fly. And this Skyloft is the perfect place for it. It's sturdy! It's mesh-y! And it holds a Tigger's weight with ease!" π‘οΈπΈοΈβ¨
He began to perform a series of "mini-bounces" on the top tier. The suction cups held firm, and the steel frame didn't even quiver. π‘οΈβοΈ
"See?" Tigger cried. "I'm a Bouncing Lookout! I can see the whole world from here! The garden! The driveway! The neighbor's dog-zone!" πππΆ
"It's a very grand view," Pooh admitted, climbing onto the bottom tier. "And it's very space-saving. Two cats, one window. It's very logical." π°π€β¨
"It's the best!" Tigger declared, suddenly deciding that he was also a "Napping Tigger" and curling into a tight, striped ball. "Tiggers love Skylofts. It's what Tiggers do best." π΄π―ππ€
And so, the quiet of the Hundred-Acre Living Room was changed. It was still a place for naps and contemplations, but now it was also a place for the occasional *boing*. And as Pooh drifted off to sleep on his bottom tier, he felt that a little bit of bounce was a very good thing for a cat's soul. π€π―πβ¨
