The Many Adventures of Muffin-Pooh (Part 5)
Muffin-Pooh was a cat who believed in the importance of "A Little Something." π―πΎ This usually occurred around eleven o'clock in the morning, right after his first nap and just before his second one. π€π
"A Little Something," in Pooh's case, was often a small bowl of tuna-water, or perhaps a few extra-crunchy kibbles that the Resident Staff had "accidentally" dropped. ππ₯£ But today, the Staff had been particularly generous. They had opened a *large* tin of tuna, and Pooh had been invited to "clean up" the remaining juice. π¦π₯β¨
He cleaned it up very thoroughly. He was a cat of great diligence when it came to tuna. π π
"There," Pooh said, licking his whiskers. "I feel much more... substantial. More cat-like. More... oof." π―π¦π¦
He felt a bit more "substantial" than he had intended. His middle, which was already quite robust, now felt like a very well-stuffed pillow. ππ§Έ
"I think," Pooh mused, "I shall go to the Sun-Room and experience the **Luxury Linen Sill Seat**. It is the most aesthetic seat in the house, and I feel like an aesthetic cat today." ππ β¨
However, to get to the Sun-Room, Pooh had to pass through the "Narrow-Pass"βthe gap between the heavy mahogany bookshelf and the wall. π π Usually, Pooh slipped through with the grace of a honey-colored shadow. But today, halfway through, the world stopped moving. πΆπ«οΈ
"Oh, bother," said Pooh. "The bookshelf has moved." ππ
He tried to push forward. He stayed where he was. He tried to wiggle backward. He remained firmly wedged. π€ΌββοΈπ¦π
"It is a very strange thing," Pooh muttered. "The wall is pushing against my left side, and the bookshelf is pushing against my right side. They must be having a meeting." ππ€π
Piglet-Kit wandered by, looking very small and very concerned. "Pooh! What are you doing? Are you... are you becoming a part of the architecture?" π·π±π
"I am stuck, Piglet," Pooh said calmly. "It is a result of being a cat of great substance and a hallway of very little ambition." π¦π
"I'll get Rabbit-Cat!" Piglet-Kit squeaked. "He's a cat of Very Large Brain. He'll know what to do!" π§ πββοΈπ¨
Rabbit-Cat arrived shortly, looking very busy and carrying a small clipboard (which was actually a discarded piece of cardboard). π°π€΅ββοΈπ Rabbit-Cat was a very organized cat who lived in the "Utility-Closet-Borough" and spent his days managing the "Dust-Bunny-Population." π§Ήπ§Ί
"Aha!" Rabbit-Cat declared, inspecting Pooh's predicament. "It's a classic case of Over-Consumption. Your 'substantialness' has exceeded the 'width-capacity' of the Narrow-Pass. We must perform an Extraction." ππ΅οΈββοΈπ¦π
"Will it involve a vacuum?" Pooh asked nervously. ππͺοΈ
"No, no," Rabbit-Cat said. "It will involve Leverage. Piglet, you grab Pooh's front paws and pull. I shall go around the back and... er... nudge." π€ΌββοΈπ°π·
"I don't like being nudged," Pooh observed. π¦πΎ
"It's for your own good!" Rabbit-Cat cried. ποΈ
What followed was a very undignified ten minutes of pulling, pushing, and a fair amount of "oomphing." π€ΌββοΈπ¨ Finally, with a sound like a cork popping out of a bottle, Pooh flew forward, landing in a heap on the Sun-Room rug. π₯π¦π
"I am free!" Pooh announced, though he felt a bit breathless. β¨π―
"You're also a bit dusty," Rabbit-Cat noted, ticking something off his cardboard. "I suggest a period of fasting. No tuna-water for at least... twenty minutes." π°πβ°
"Twenty minutes!" Pooh gasped. "That's a very long time in Cat-Years." πβ³
He climbed onto the **Luxury Linen Sill Seat**. It was a premium, hand-woven seat with a hand-finished frame. Most importantly, it was *spacious*. It had a deep, hypoallergenic fill that accommodated Pooh's "substantialness" with ease. π°πποΈβ¨
"This is much better," Pooh sighed, sinking into the linen. "It doesn't push back. It only holds." ππ¦π
"It's very aesthetic, Pooh," Piglet-Kit said, sitting beside him. π·π±β¨
"It is," Pooh agreed. "And I have learned a very important lesson. If you are a cat of great substance, you must ensure your perches are equally grand. And perhaps... only half a tin of tuna next time." π―π‘οΈπ§ β¨
But as the sun hit the linen, and the warmth began to spread, Pooh realized that "half a tin" was a very difficult thing to imagine. For now, he was content to be a spacious cat on a spacious seat. βοΈποΈπ¦π€
